Pickleball in Yuba City, California

Yuba City pickleball normally centers on the six court complex at Sam Brannan Park, but the park is temporarily closed as of September 1, 2026 while the city addresses safety concerns and improves the site. Until it reopens, the most practical in town option is the private Yuba City Racquet & Health Club, while public court players can use the lined tennis court at Olivehurst Community Park a short drive south. The Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club and the regional PlayTime Scheduler remain the best ways to connect with local players and follow where games are moving during the closure.

Pickleball Courts in Yuba City and Nearby

Sam Brannan Park Pickleball Courts

810 Gray Avenue, Yuba City, CA 95991

Sam Brannan Park has six outdoor courts with permanent nets and lights and is the established home of the Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club. The entire park is temporarily closed beginning September 1, 2026, so the courts are not currently available. The closure has no published end date. Save the Sam Brannan Park page for city information and use the club play location page when organized play returns.

Yuba City Racquet & Health Club

825 Jones Road, Yuba City, CA 95991

This private athletic club has tennis and pickleball courts and is the clearest current option for playing inside Yuba City while Sam Brannan Park is closed. Court access is tied to the club rather than public park use. Players considering regular access can review membership options and the free day pass form. The main facility is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the front desk number is 530-673-6900.

Olivehurst Community Park

10th Avenue and Powerline Road, Olivehurst, CA 95961

The public tennis court is striped for pickleball, making it a useful nearby fallback for players who already have partners. This is a shared court rather than a verified organized open play site, so bring paddles, balls, and players. Access requires a key obtained from the Olivehurst Public Utility District office at 1970 9th Avenue, Olivehurst. Read the court and key details before making the trip.

Pickleball Lessons in Yuba City

Beginners should start with the Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club. Local 5.0 player Doug Koch assists the club with beginner clinics and offers individual and group lessons throughout the North State. The club home page links directly to his instruction information and gives the club phone and email for arranging a clinic.

A new player will get more from the first session by learning the non-volley zone, two bounce rule, basic serving sequence, and doubles positioning before moving into faster games. Ask for a beginner clinic or small group lesson rather than arriving at an advanced session. The club can also help connect a learner with players at a compatible level while its normal Sam Brannan Park location is unavailable.

Yuba City Pickleball Open Play and Events

The Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club is the hub for local organized play, clinics, and community events. Its normal club play location is Sam Brannan Park, which is temporarily closed, so older court schedules should not be treated as current. Use the Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club site for club announcements and its phone or email contact when you need the current replacement location.

For scheduled games across Yuba City, Olivehurst, Gridley, and the surrounding counties, use the Yuba-Sutter PlayTime Scheduler. Players can create a free account, see sessions with skill levels and player counts, and join a game before traveling. This is more reliable for finding actual players than simply arriving at an available public court. No current recurring Yuba City league or upcoming tournament is published, so this guide does not present an expired event as an active option.

Playing Pickleball in Yuba City as a Visitor

Visitors who want a guaranteed in town court should begin with the Yuba City Racquet & Health Club at 825 Jones Road and ask the front desk about the free day pass and pickleball court access. That route is practical for couples, families, and groups that already have enough players.

Solo visitors should join a posted session through the regional PlayTime Scheduler or connect with the Yuba-Sutter Pickleball Club by phone or text at 530-713-8735. State your approximate level and visit date so local players can place you in a suitable game. Do not plan around Sam Brannan Park until the city announces that the temporary closure has ended.

If you are traveling with your own group and prefer a public court, Olivehurst Community Park is the nearest documented alternative, but obtain the required key first and bring your own equipment. The scheduler also lists two outdoor courts at Vierra Park, 194 Washington Street in Gridley, for players willing to drive farther north.
